ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats were never threatened vs. the Hinds Lady Bulldogs here Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymasium.
The Lady Bobcats crushed Hinds, 92-52, to up their record to 11-4 overall, 5-2 in league play.
Hinds scored the game's first four points, but JCJC would take command with a 26-5 run over a seven-minute stretch of the first half.
Hayley Pichon's 8-footer at 9:40 of the first half gave JCJC a 26-9 lead. Two
Starla Daggans' free throws made it 34-13 with 3:59 showing and
Kadie Parker's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Lady Bobcats a 49-21 lead at halftime.
JCJC scored the first nine points of the second half and went ahead 58-21 with 17:07 left when Parker scored. The Lady Bobcats' longest lead of the game came with 1:20 remaining when
Aliyah Bell hit a 3-pointer to make it 90-49.
Taylor Baudoin led JCJC with 24 points, while Daggans added 19 and Parker added 18.
Alyson Johnson had 9 rebounds and 7 assists, while Daggans had 8 boards and
Terrica Williams had 7. Baudoin had 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Tyquisha Naylor had 11 points and Tiana Roby had 10 for Hinds, 2-14 overall and 0-7 in the division. Sh'Nika Smith had 8 rebounds for HCC.
JCJC was 34-of-82 from the field, including 4-of-11 from 3-point range, for 41.5 percent. The Lady Bobcats were 20-of-24 from the free throw line.
Hinds was 23-of-65 from the field, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range, for 35 percent. The Lady Bulldogs were 4-of-7 from the free throw line.
The Lady Bobcats held a 49-32 rebounding advantage. JCJC committed 15 turnovers, while Hinds had 23.
The Lady Bobcats open the second half of division play on Thursday at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The game tips off at 5:30 p.m.
Hinds travels to Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday.
