Bobcats now 6-0 after 95-66 decision over Coahoma

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats won their sixth straight contest with a convincing, 95-66 victory over Coahoma Community College here Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The defending national champions are now 6-0 on the young season.
JCJC used an explosive second half to pull away from the Tigers.
The Bobcats were ahead 36-25 at halftime and outscored the Tigers, 59-41, in the second half.
JCJC took a 17-7 lead at the 13:31 mark of the first half when Bryce Perry made a 3-pointer. Coahoma bounced back and got within 22-19 when Willie Bronson made a 3-pointer with 10:04 left.
The Bobcats then held Coahoma to only one field goal the remainder of the half.  A Christopher White basket off a Bryce Jones' assist gave JCJC a 32-21 lead with 2:37 left.
A Rodrigus Palmer 15-footer with two seconds to play gave the Bobcats an 11-point halftime lead.
The Bobcats stretched the lead to 51-34 with 15:44 left in the game when Otis Harvey scored.  White's basket with 7:42 left capped a 10-0 run and put JCJC ahead 74-44.
JCJC's longest lead came when Andre'co Calender scored on a drive to the goal to make it 91-60 with 1:48 remaining.
Jones and Palmer scored 17 points each to lead the Bobcats, while Harvey added 16 and White had 12.
De'Quan Forrest had 16 for Coahoma, 1-6. Willie Bronson added 15 and Zedric Bass had 12.
The Bobcats open MACJC South Division play at home on Thursday vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. and will air on www.jcjc.tv.
Coahoma travels to Itawamba on Thursday to begin MACJC North Division play.
