Former Bobcat and two-time All-American forward Nique Cherry returns to her alma mater to round out first-year head coach Deneshia Faulkner's 2023-24 women's basketball staff.
Cherry spent last season as an assistant at Division III Greensboro College in North Carolina.
The Laurel native helped Jones to a combined 56-6 record over the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, a pair of MACCCÂ and Region 23 Championships and NJCAA Tournament Appearances.
She averaged 14.5 points and 13 rebounds over 62 starts with 44 double-doubles and all-conference, all-region and all-american honors. Cherry was also a five-time conference player of the week selection.
Cherry went on to play 46 games at Clemson University under head coach Amanda Butler after leaving Jones.
Cherry played for coach Faulkner out of Heidelberg High School, where she was ranked the 26th best recruit by All-Star Girls Report. She helped the Oilers to a state runner-up finish in 2016 after averaging 18 points and 16 rebounds.
