Brooke Rhodes enters her second year as an assistant coach at Jones County Junior College.
She helped the Lady Bobcats to a record-setting, 30-2 mark in 2016-7 and the school's first-ever trip to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
Prior to coming to JCJC, Rhodes served two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Central Arkansas. She helped guide UCA to a Southland Conference tournament championship in 2015-16.
Rhodes had a successful playing career at Southern Miss and Delta State in which her teams went 96-32 (.744).
Her impact on the Central Arkansas program was immediately evident, as the team improved by 11 wins from the previous season and would go on to an historic season as they earned their first D-I NCAA Tournament berth after winning a program-record 28 games, broke the program record for regular-season wins with 26 and Southland Conference wins with 16, going undefeated on the road in conference play for the first time in program history and putting together an impressive 15-1 record away from home, winning 15 straight road and neutral games after an early-season loss at No. 4 Tennessee – the nation's 4th-longest streak in 2015-16 behind only UConn, South Carolina and Colorado State.
A team captain on a 25-win, WNIT Elite Eight team at Southern Miss in 2014-15, Rhodes was 2nd in Conference USA and ranked among the national Top 40 in 3-point percentage.
A prolific shooter throughout her career, Rhodes – a Daktronics All-South Region selection in 2012 – finished her time in uniform with averages of 36.7 percent from 3-point range and 81.3 percent at the free throw line, including a career-best 85.7 percent during her sophomore season to lead the Gulf South Conference. In high school she was a Dandy Dozen selection, and a two-time statewide Player of the Year at East Rankin.
Rhodes earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry at Southern Miss, and is completing her master's at USM in Sports Coaching Education this summer.Â
