Javier Gonzalez enters his second season at Jones County Junior College as linebacker coach.
Gonzalez joins the Bobcat football coaching staff as an assistant coach for tight ends. He comes to JCJCÂ from Brevard College (North Carolina).
Prior to Brevard, Gonzalez was at the University of Southern Mississippi where he served as a defensive quality control coach. Gonzalez assisted the defensive coordinator, and worked directly with the secondary coaches.Â
Before returning to the Golden Eagles, Gonzalez worked at Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota, as the cornerbacks coach. He was responsible for preparation and performance of the cornerbacks, as well as film breakdown, self-scouting and monitoring academics.Â
In 2013-14, Gonzalez served as the graduate assistant in the Southern Miss Sports Video Department, working directly with football.Â
Gonzalez also worked at Wofford College as a defensive quality control coach in 2012-13. The Joliet, Illinois, native, assisted with film breakdown, scouting reports, and game day charting. He was a staff member for the team's 2012 Southern Conference Championship.Â
In addition, Gonzalez worked at Joliet Junior College (2009-11) as an assistant football coach for the secondary, helping the team win the 2009 Graphic Edge Bowl. He was an assistant football coach, working with wide receivers, at Joliet Central High School (2008) and was the Hammond High School head freshman coach and assistant varsity coach for the secondary (2006).Â
Gonzalez earned his bachelors degree in criminal justice from Governors State University in 2009 before earning a master's degree in public safety administration from Lewis University in 2010.
