Reece Ewing

Reece Ewing joined the Bobcat baseball staff ahead of the 2026 season where he will work primarily with outfielders and serve as the team's strength coach. 

It's Ewing's first coaching job after starting three seasons in the outfield for Southern Miss and two at Pearl River.

Ewing was a .253 lifetime hitter in 168 career games played for the Golden Eagles, 158 starts, with 28 doubles, 21 home runs, 90 RBIs and 111 runs scored. He fielded .969 in 228 career chances.

Ewing helped Southern Miss to a 2023 Sun Belt Tournament Championship and Auburn Regional Championship in his senior year and Conference USA regular season and Hattiesburg Regional Championship as a junior.

As a freshman at Pearl River in 2019, Ewing and the Wildcats were 41-14, NJCAA Region 23 Champions and advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series for the first time since 2002. Ewing hit .300 that season with 12 doubles, 11 home runs and 49 RBIs and was also 3-0 on the mound with a 3.29 ERA over seven games.

Ewing played high school baseball at Faith Academy where he guided the Rams to a 2018 AHSAA Class 5A State Championship after hitting .345 with 14 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBIs as a senior. He left as the school's career leader in home runs (17) and strikeouts (364). 

The Mobile, Alabama, native is married to the former Kate Broom, Jones' second-year head cheer coach. The couple celebrated their second year wedding anniversary in January 2026.
