Former MACCC pitcher Chance Forbes is now in his first year as a graduate assistant for the Bobcats.

He joined Wes Thigpen's staff as a student assistant coach ahead of the 2022 season. Forbes coaches outfielders, assists with the JC pitching staff and serves as the first base coach. 

Forbes played under Thigpen at Jones and Mississippi Gulf Coast. He appeared in 14 games on the mound over his junior college career for the Bobcats and Bulldogs, striking out 14 in 18.1 career innings.

The Columbia Academy product went 7-3 with a 2.06 ERA and 84 strikeouts his senior season for head coach Heath Smith. He was 9-3 with a 2.17 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 77.1 innings his junior campaign.

Forbes earned his bachelor's in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
