Briar Russell joined the JC baseball staff for the 2021 season as a volunteer assistant.
Russell serves as Player Development Coordinator, where he creates and oversees all weight workouts and mobility exercises. He assists players in improving their power and strength while maintaining full range of motion.
The Sumrall native played for JC pitching coach Larry Knight at Sumrall High School and was part of three south state championships and one state title. He was named a Mississippi High School All-Star and 4A First Team All-State selection.
Russell finished his career at Meridian Community College in 2019 where he majored in exercise science.
After his playing career, he trained for three years at Tread Athletics.
Russell is currently pursuing his bachelors in kinesiology at Southern Miss and plans to take the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam post graduation.Â
