PENSACOLA, Fla. – Despite a 17-1 shot advantage Friday evening at the Pensacola State Soccer Complex, No. 3 Jones College and No. 19 Northeast (Nebraska) played to a 1-1 draw.
The Bobcats moved to 3-0-1 while the Hawks moved to 3-2-1.
Scoreless at the break, Northeast's only shot of the game was a 25-yard strike from Kornelia Jedra that landed in the upper left 90 for a 1-0 lead.
Less than 10 minutes later, the Bobcats drew even when
Charlee Castle's ball from outside the box hit the crossbar and bounced to the foot of
Karla Ovalle who tied it.
Sabrina Ramsay stopped a dozen Jones shots to earn a hard-fought draw, while
Jennifer Huerzeler was tested just the once.
Jones wraps up three straight matches versus ranked opponents with an 11 a.m. meeting with No. 4 Johnson County. The two teams battled to a fantastic 4-3 Bobcat OT win at the national tournament thanks to four goals from NJCAA All-American
Sherline King.
