SUMMIT – Jones stayed unbeaten in four all-time meetings with Southwest, downing the Bears 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-9, 25-14) Wednesday night at Bear Gymnasium.
The 24th-ranked Bobcats improved to 7-2 overall and dropped SMCC to 3-5.
"Southwest is a very good passing team and they were prepared against us," head coach
John Dussouy said. "We had to be a little more aggressive with our serving. We came out very sluggish after Labor Day Weekend, but I was happy with the way we responded after the second set."
Tied at 1-1 after two sets, Jones won the third set by a resounding 25-9 margin to regain control.
Jones then put it away in the fourth, hitting a match-high .561 with 17 kills in a 25-14 clinching set.

Olivia Guth had 23 digs and
Addyson Sides added 10.
The Bobcats are on the road Sept. 11-12 in Andalusia, Ala., as part of the Lurleen B. Wallace Crossover where they'll play four matches.
