Maylee Levens' first collegiate goal in the 27th minute, off a
Sofia Monico corner, proved to be the game-winner as No. 3 Jones topped NJCAA Division III No. 2 Dallas College-Brookhaven, 2-0, Thursday morning.
"The girls played really well despite battling extreme temperatures," head coach
Dolores Deasley said. "Dallas Brookhaven is always a tough team to play and are always high in the rankings, so to come away with a win after a long road trip is great. Overall, just super proud of the entire team performance."
Jones outshot Brookhaven 15-6, including 10-3 on goal.
Jennifer Huerzeler stopped all three shots she faced in a clean sheet. DCB keeper Khloe Gonzalez stopped eight shots.
Jameyah Hubbard extended the Bobcat lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute for her sixth career goal.
Jones hosts St. Louis on Sunday, Aug. 23 for its home-opener.
