ELLISVILLE – No. 6 Jones College outscored East Mississippi 16-1 in a sweep Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
The Bobcats improved to 37-8 overall, 16-4 in MACCC play, still a game out of first.
Mary Kimble Price was 5-for-5 with a double to pace the offense and Bobcat pitching allowed one run on five hits with 13 strikeouts.

Jones capitalized on defensive miscues and strong pitching to open the day with a shutout win/
The Bobcats struck first in the opening inning when Price delivered a sacrifice fly to bring home
Claire Andersen.
They added two more in the third, highlighted by an RBI-single from
Madison Sawyer, and another unearned run crossing on an error.
A four-run fourth inning broke the game open.
Laney Little scored on a throwing error before
Mabry Eason added an RBI-single.
Annaston Tate capped the inning with a two-run double to push the lead to 7-0.
Jones tallied 10 hits and benefited from five Lion errors.
Sawyer (16-1) was dominant in the circle, striking out nine over 4.2 innings while allowing just two hits.
Morgan Landry and
Abigail Lindsey combined to finish the three-hit shutout as the staff piled up 12 strikeouts.

Jones carried its momentum into game two, using another big middle innings surge to complete the sweep.
After a scoreless first, the Bobcats took control with two runs in the second inning on RBIs from
Marlee Dampeer and
Laney Little.
They added two more in the third, including an RBI-double from
Addy Shorter.
EMCC got on the board in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt by RaMiyah Price that scored Savannah Fralix, cutting the deficit to 4-1.
Little crushed a three-run homer to right field and Shorter followed with an RBI-single to extend the lead to 8-1.
Annaston Tate's RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth scored Eason and ended it in six.
Breelyn Cain (8-5) earned the win, allowing one run on two hits over 4.2 innings, while
Anna Grace Whitehead closed it out.
