No. 13 Bobcats take two matches over NCAA Division III opponents

JACKSON – No. 13 Jones College defeated NCAA Division III foes Belhaven and Millsaps by identical 7-0 scores here on Friday.
 
The Bobcats are now 10-0 overall and will host No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in an important MACCC match.

The Bobcats got the day started with a win over the Blazers at Parham Bridges.
 
Juan Francisco Pereyra (Argentina) and Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) beat Josiah Leggett and Briley Oakes in No. 1 doubles, 6-2. Felipe Morales (Ecuador) and Reese Touchet (Madison Central) blanked Mark Breedlove and Paul Stager in No. 2 doubles, 6-0, and Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) and Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) defeated John Madden and Bernard Jackson in No. 3 doubles, 6-2.
 
Pereyra beat Leggett in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Morales whipped Oakes in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Jones downed Madden in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Westmoreland defeated Breedlove in No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Roth beat Stager in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Crews Cockrell (West Jones) downed Jackson in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The Bobcats took the doubles point to open the match vs. the Majors at the Coach Montgomery Courts on the Millsaps campus.
 
Tom Garrett (Australia) and Pereyra beat Anderson Causey and Bradley Schiaffino in No. 1 doubles, 6-2. Morales and Touchet lost 5-7 in No. 2 doubles to Sam Tuli and Cooper Payne. Jones and Roth shut out Brennan Pierce and Sebastian Gonzalez in No. 3 doubles, 6-0.
 
Pereyra beat Causey in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and Garrett downed Jon Titan Nguyen in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Morales defeated Tuli in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 10-3 and Jones beat Schiaffino in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Westmoreland defeated Payne in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4 and Roth beat Gonzalez in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1. 
 
In an extra match, Cockrell downed Pierce, 8-4.
