Eason homers three times, nine others with hits in sweep of Lansing

ELLISVILLE Mabry Eason homered three times and nine other Bobcats registered hits in Tuesday's sweep of Lansing (Mich.).

No. 3 Jones improved to 21-4 overall and dropped Lansing to 0-8.

Jones opens MACCC play on Friday, March 6 (was Saturday) at Northwest. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.

Jones 10, Lansing 4

Mary Kimble Price was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Laney Little blasted her fifth triple of the year in a game one victory.

Price's RBI-single in the first and Annaston Tate's two-run single helped Jones jump out 3-0 after one.

Lansing got two back in the third on a wild pitch and RBI-single from Tommi Kleinschmidt.

Price's RBI-double scored Chloe Jenkins after a leadoff single in the third to make it 4-2 Jones.

Just a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth, Laney Little singled and later scored on Claire Andersen's infield single. Eason then hit a two-run homer to stretch the lead to 10-4 and that's where it would end.

Breelyn Cain went the distance in the circle to improve to 5-1, scattering three earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Jones 8, Lansing 0 (5 inn.)

Eason homered to right-center in the first and left-center in the second and Farrah James' bases-loaded walk in the fifth helped Jones walk it off.

Makynlee Dickerson made it 5-0 in the first on a two-run double and Andersen's infield single made it 6-0.

Lansing's lone hit came with two outs in the third.

Madison Sawyer (8-1) went 3.2 for the win and Abigail Lindsey 1.1 hitless in relief.
