Jones run-rules Mississippi Delta twice during six-game road swing

MOORHEAD – No. 6 Jones College swept a pair of games at a gusty Lady Trojan Field Saturday afternoon, defeating Mississippi Delta 15-6 and 15-7 — both in six innings.

Jones improved to 27-6, 6-2 MACCC and will close out a six-game road swing on Tuesday at Southwest.

The Bobcats combined for 30 runs on 32 hits, with 12 different players grabbing at least one.

Jones 15, Delta 6 (6 inn.)

The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one but Jones would wake up the bats to take a run-rule victory in the opener.

Mary Kimble Price's solo homer in the third and Morgan Taylor's sac fly tied it at 4-4.

Madison Sawyer's two-run double put Jones back in front, 6-4, in the fourth.

A six-run fifth and three-run sixth closed out the run-rule.

Mabry Eason hit a two-run homer and had a two-run double and Farrah James, Annaston Tate and Logan Mansur all added RBI-singles.

Abigail Lindsey (4-0) relieved Morgan Landry after the first and scattered two earned runs, five strikeouts and a walk to earn the win in the circle.

Jones 15, Delta 7 (6 inn.)

Eason hit her team-leading 12th home run and James homered twice to set the tone for a two-game sweep.

Jones led 4-0 after one.

A 4-2 game in the third, Mansur tripled to score a pair and Sawyer hit a solo homer in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-2. James hit her second homer in the fifth.

MDCC clawed back within 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth after a Zyah Gunter two-run single and Shamya Williams RBI-single.

Makenzie Houston's RBI-single in the sixth opened up a seven-run frame. James doubled, Anna Grace Whitehead had an RBI-single, Marlee Dampeer an RBI-single, Chloe Jenkins RBI-walk and Eason two-run single.

Gunter hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make the final 15-7.
