ELLISVILLE – Jones shot a season-worst 25 percent and could not shake off the rust in a 51-47 setback to Northeast Monday night.
The Bobcats dropped their second straight at home to move to 17-5 overall, 6-3 MACCC. Northeast improved to 8-14, 2-5 with a third straight win over Jones.
In an ugly first quarter that ended 5-3 in favor of the Tigers, the teams combined to shoot 3-for-25.
It wouldn't get much better for Jones, who went just 1-for-12 the final three quarters from deep, but they did take a 22-19 lead into the half.
Jones' largest lead was four a minute into the third quarter and Northeast had its largest lead, 37-32, with 2:01 left in the quarter.
Larissa Hubbard's jumper with 1:35 to play gave Jones a 45-44 lead, but Northeast would outscore Jones 7-2 to close out the win.

Sanyla Smith added 11 and
Lamarah Cleaves had nine points and seven rebounds.
Maniya Kirksey had 18 and Tyquashia McMillian 15 to lead the Tigers.
