Bobcats sweep four games at PCB JUCO Softball Showdown

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Playing in its first of three weekend tournaments out of state, No. 4 Jones College swept four games in the PCB JUCO Showdown to move to 6-0 on the young season.

The Bobcats opened the weekend with a win over No. 3 St. Johns River, 5-1, and followed that with victories over Wabash Valley, Roane State and Shelton State.

Jones hit .344 on the weekend with six doubles, five home runs and they went 15-for-16 on the basepaths.

Mary Kimble Price had two home runs and Farrah James, Addy Shorter and Laney Little all added homers.

Chloe Jenkins, Price and Logan Mansur had eight hits each to lead the Bobcats.

The JC pitching staff struck out 27 and posted a 2.25 ERA with Breelyn Cain, Morgan Landry, Madison Sawyer and Anna Grace Whitehead all grabbing wins in the circle.

Jones hosts No. 10 Kirkwood (1-3) on Monday at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field, its last home games until March 3.
