Jones erases 17-point deficit but falls in final seconds to Itawamba

MACCC win streak snapped at 19 games

ELLISVILLE – The last team to beat Jones College in conference play was Itawamba back on Jan. 13, 2025 in Fulton.

The Indians did it again Monday night in the game's final 30 seconds, 75-74, using former Bobcat DJ Davis' jumper to snap Jones' 19-game MACCC win streak.

ICC improved to 15-6, 6-1 MACCC. Jones fell to 17-6, 6-1 and travels to Coahoma Thursday.

The Indians could not miss in the game's opening 13 minutes and built a 17-point lead, 35-18, with 7:09 left in the half.

A 12-2 Bobcat run, capped by six straight points from Keron Jackson, got it within seven.

ICC led by 10 at the half.

Jones scored eight of the first 10 in the second to close to 42-38 after a Braylon Barnes three and Bob Dickson layup.

Dylan Rowe's two free throws with 12:49 to play gave Jones its first lead, 50-49.

Neither team led by more than four the rest of the game.

Two more Rowe free throws at the 3:23-mark had it 73-69 Bobcats until two Davis free throws and a Dailin Cooperwood tip-in tied it at 73-all.

Dickson was fouled on the ensuing possession after ICC tied it, but he made the first free throw and missed the second.

ICC then used Davis' 16-foot jumper, his only made field goal (1-for-8) of the game, to retake the lead 75-74.

Barnes' go-ahead three-pointer was no good with 2.5 to play and Jones was unable to get another crack at tying or taking the lead.

Jackson had 22 off the bench to lead JC, folowed by Rowe's 20 points, 14 and nine from Dickson and 10 from Jay Tyler.

ICC was led by Tim Holliday's 20 points and 18 from Damarion Winston.
