MERIDIAN – No. 13 Jones College eased by the No. 24 Oxford-Emory (Ga.) Eagles 8-1 at NE Park Tennis Center Saturday morning.
The Bobcats started the match with three doubles victories.
Tom Garrett (Australia) and
Juan Francisco Pereyra (Argentina) beat Michael Kurlyandchik and Eshaan Khera, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles.
Felipe Morales (Ecuador) and
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) defeated Alex Kassatly and Ruimin Luo in No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) and
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) downed Benjamin Wu and Ryan Muo in No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Garrett beat Kurlyandchik in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4 and Pereyra defeated Khera in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3. Morales blanked Kassatly in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 . Jones whipped Wu in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) defeated Mou in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Touchet fell to Luo in No. 4 singles, 0-6, 2-6.
The Bobcats (2-0) open MACCC action with a 1 p.m. match on Friday at Northwest. Jones meets Rust College at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in New Albany.
