ELLISVILLE – Jones College opened the 2026 season with a 9-0 shutout over Bevill State here Friday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats cruised through all nine matches.
In No. 1 doubles,
Theresa Emelio (Australia) and
Heidi Clayton (New Albany) won 8-0 over Jasmine Rivera and Ella Thrasher.
Camila Piquín (Argentina) and
Maria Martinez (Argentina) won 8-0 over Oriana Roldan and Lila Oliver in No. 2 doubles.
Katlin Porcello (Oak Grove) and
Josie Tullos (Newton County) beat Ady Preston and Kynley Williams, 8-2, in No. 3 doubles.
Piquín beat Preston, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 1 singles; Martinez defeated Thrasher, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 2 singles; and Clayton defeated Rivera in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Emelio downed Roldan in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-4. Porcello whipped Williams in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3 and Tullos downed Oliver in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Caroline Kilpatrick (Brookhaven) beat Ruby Smith, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 and
Emily Rogers (West Jones) defeated Zoie McGuirk, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bobcats will scrimmage at Mississippi College on Feb. 6 before resuming regular season play vs. Oxford-Emory in Meridian on Feb. 14.
