No. 15 Jones wins showdown between MACCC's top two teams

MACCC win streak up to 19

GOODMAN – In a matchup between the top two teams in the MACCC Thursday night at Frank Branch Coliseum, it was the visiting and 15th-ranked Bobcats who flexed their muscles late to come away with a 79-68 win to remain unbeaten in league play.

Jones improved to 17-5, 6-0 in the conference and sits two games up. Holmes fell to 14-4, 3-2.

Jones has won 19 straight MACCC contests.

The Bobcats trailed 38-35 in a back-and-forth first half but outscored the Bulldogs by 14 out of intermission.

The lead was six with under two minutes to play before a late spurt and technical by Holmes pushed the final tally to 11.

Dylan Rowe netted a career-high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting and added eight assists. Recent Louisiana Tech commit Jay Tyler had 18 and Wesley Lindsey 13 points.

Holmes' bench did most of the work, scoring 43 of the team's 68 points.

A combined 70 free throws were taken on 50 fouls.

The Bobcats host Itawamba on Monday at 5:30 as part of Jack's Family Restaurant Night.
