DECATUR – In the first-ever meeting between the teams, with East Central in its first year as a program, Jones handled business in just over an hour with a 3-0 win at Founders Gymnasium Wednesday night.
Jones improved to 7-0 overall, 4-0 MACCC and remains the lone unbeaten in the conference. ECCC dropped to 5-3, 3-2.
The Bobcats hit .611 in the opening set and forced EC into 10 errors in a 25-6 win. They'd follow with 25-14 and 25-21 wins to sweep.
ECCC finished in the negative in attack percentage for the match, committing 27 errors against 22 kills.
Sixteen different Bobcats touched the floor in the win in a balanced offensive attack.
Harmony Jackson had a team-high seven kills and
Alanah Fitch added five. Seven others had at least one kill.
Jones had a season-high 14 blocks, led by
Izzi Barnes with 3.5 and Fitch with four.
Sara Akins had nine digs and
Mamie Fromdahl and
Claire Wicker added eight each.
Jones hosts Itawamba on Monday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. in conference action.
