Box Score HANCEVILLE, Ala. – No. 13 Jones College dropped a 7-2 decision to No. 6 Wallace State-Hanceville in the final 2025 regular season match here Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats are now 16-5 and will now prepare to host the NJCAA Men's Region 23 Tournament April 24-26 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Jones meets Northeast at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the tournament opener.
The Lions improve to 14-1.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) was a part of both Jones' wins. He teamed with
Tom Garrett (Australia) to beat James Edley and Angel Gautier in No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Ruiz then beat Edley in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
Diego Castellanos (Bolivia) and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) lost in No. 2 doubles to Zachary Riley and Alex Hernandez, 2-8, and
Brooks Newell (Oak Grove) and
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) fell 2-8 to Jace Moody and Ferran Bonastre in No. 3 doubles.
Garrett fell to Hernandez in No. 2 singles, 2-6, 3-6 and Castellanos lost to Gautier in No. 3 singles, 0-6, 0-6. Holder lost Riley in No. 4 singles, 0-6, 1-4 (retired) and Jones lost to Jean Badenhorst in No. 5 singles, 1-6, 6-7 (2-7).
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) fell to Bonastre in No. 6 singles, 0-6, 3-6.
