ELLISVILLE – No. 14 Jones College returned from spring break with an 8-1 decision over No. 18 Copiah-Lincoln here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats improve to 13-4 overall, 8-0 in the MACCC.
Jones opened the match with two doubles victories.
Diego Castellanos (Bolivia) and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) whipped Robert Adcock and Tristin Rollins in No. 2 doubles, 8-1, and
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) and
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) downed Mason Brand and Simon Cooper in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Tom Garrett (Australia) and
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) fell to Ege Altas and Jake Bucek in No. 1 doubles, 4-8.
Ruiz defeated Ege in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2 and Garrett downed Bucek in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-5. Castellanos beat Adcock in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-4 and Holder whipped Brand in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Jones defeated Cooper in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and
Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) outlasted Jax Leggett in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-5).
The Bobcats will host Northwest at 12:45 p.m. Friday.
