BOONEVILLE – No. 6 Jones College lost two heartbreakers to Northeast Mississippi here Saturday at The Plex.
Layth Holiday was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Tigers took the opener, 7-6. Kody Gilmore's single in the bottom of the seventh of game two drove in the winning run as Northeast took a 2-1 decision.
The Bobcats, 19-8 overall and 5-3 in the MACCC, will host Meridian in a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday at Community Bank Park.
Northeast, 19-13 and 6-2, visits Itawamba on Wednesday.
Northeast 7, Jones 6 (10 inn.)
Down 6-4 going into the eighth inning,
Bryson Jones (Northwest Rankin) had a pinch-hit double and
Talan Theriot (Luling, La.) tripled to right-center to drive him home.
TJ Dunsford (Grand Bay, Ala.) doubled to right to tie the game at 6-6.
In the bottom of the 10th, Trae Cagle and Ben Sandlin drew one-out walks. After Parker Hall reached on a fielder's choice for the second out, Gilmore was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Holiday was then by a pitch to force pinch-runner Easton Fesmire home with the winning run.
Theriot tripled, doubled, singled and scored three runs and Dunsford had two doubles to lead the Bobcats.

Bryson Jones each had a double.
Caden Freeman (Marshall Academy went the final 2.2 innings and was tagged with the loss to fall to 1-2. He allowed one run, no hits, walked four, hit three and struck out one. Starter
Micah Daniell (Oak Grove) went 3.2 innings, allowed five runs (four earned), five hits, walked two, hit one and struck out one.
Brycen Smith (Sumrall) tossed 3.1 innings, giving up one run, one hit, walked two, hit one and struck out two.
Andrew Davis tripled and singled to lead the Tiger six-hit attack.
Jacobie Smith, the fourth Tiger pitcher, went the final 1.0 inning and got the win, improving to 3-0. He recorded a strikeout and retired all three batters he faced.
Northeast 2, Jones 1
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth.
Kieran Coleman and Carter Wells drew one-out walks. Cooper Davis flied out to centerfield, but a throwing error back to the infield allowed Coleman to score and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats tied it quickly in the top of the seventh when
Chase Russell (Madison Central) led off with a home run to right-center.
In the bottom of the seventh, Sandlin led off with a single to left-center and was sacrificed to second by Hall. Gilmore then singled to left to score the winning run.
Starter
Colton Smith (Bossier City, La.) went 5.1 innings for the Bobcats, allowing one run, three hits, three walks, two hit batters and five strikeouts. Russell pitched the final 1.0 inning and got the loss, falling to 2-1. He gave up a run on three hits.

Cole Manuel (Clinton) and
Chesley Rhodes (St. Stanislaus) singled to account for the Bobcat offense.
Holiday tripled for the Tigers.
Dean McCalla went the entire 7.0 innings and got the win, upping his record to 4-1. He gave up one run, five hits, walked one and struck out nine.
