JACKSON – No. 13 Jones College defeated Millsaps College 5-2 here Sunday at the Montgomery Courts.
Jones won two of the doubles matches.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Diego Castellanos (Bolivia) edged Sam Tuli and Anderson Dulaney in No. 1 doubles, 8-6, and
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) and
Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) defeated Sam Willard and Sebastian Gonzalez in No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Alex Holder (Madison Central) and
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) lost 3-8 in No. 2 doubles to Brady St. Martin and Carson Chassaignac.
Ruiz rolled over Tuli in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Jones defeated Willard in No. 4 singles, 6-1,7-5.
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) outlasted St. Martin in No. 5 singles, 5-7,7-5,1-0 (10-8) and Roth whipped Gonzalez in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Castellanos lost 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 in No. 2 singles and Holder fell to Dulaney in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 1-6, 2-6.
The Bobcats are now 8-0 and will visit Holmes at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and will host Hinds at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
