FULTON – A season-long, 17-game winning streak came to a halt Friday at Andy Kirk Field in a 6-5 Game 1 loss but Jones rebounded with a 10-4 win in the nightcap to leave Fulton with a split.
Jones moved to 27-4, 5-1 in the MACCC while ICC moved to 19-6, 4-2 in conference play.
It was the Bobcats' first loss against a ranked opponent this year. They're now 12-1.
Itawamba 6, Jones 5
Trailing 5-0 after three, Jones fought back within a run thanks to a three-run seventh but fell short, 6-5.
Taylar Shands smacked a three-run homer for the Lady Indians in the first and delivered a two-run shot in the third to give ICC a 5-0 lead.
Makynlie Jones' solo homer in the fourth was answered by AB Marlar's solo homer in the fifth.
Emily Mizelle got it to 6-2 with a solo homer in the sixth before a big Bobcat threat in the seventh.
Laney Little singled to lead off the inning but a line out and strikeout quickly put two down. Mak. Jones doubled to right to score Little, and two batters later,
Jayden Sawyer homered to pull the Cats to 6-5.
Mizelle was hoping for some magic in her final at-bat but a groundout to second ended it.
Ava Prejean was touched for five runs in only two innings to take her first loss (10-1) of the year. Sawyer threw the final four and allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts.

Jones got out to a fast start with a five-run first and
Breelyn Cain went the distance in the circle to grab her sixth win in eight appearances.
Mizelle's RBI-single got things going to score Mak. Jones after a double. After an error scored a second run, Little hit an RBI-single and
Marlee Dampeer a two-run RBI-single to make it 5-0.
Dampeer added another RBI-single in the third to make it 7-1 and
Kaleigh Steverson an RBI-single to push it to 8-1 in the fourth.
Mak. Jones homered in the seventh for her NJCAA-leading 19th of the year and her 12th in the last 10 games.
Eight Bobcats picked up a hit including
Reagan Dale's pinch-hit single in the fifth. Mak Jones missed a cycle by a single.
After starting 1-3 in the circle, Cain is 6-0 her last eight appearances. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts against two walks.
Jones will host Hinds March 19 and No. 12 Northeast March 22 at The Bank.
