Makynlie Jones has been named the MACCC Player of the Week for two straight weeks.
She is making a major bid to make it three in a row.
Jones, a redshirt-sophomore rightfielder from Vardaman, homered three times to help No. 1 Jones College sweep No. 9 Northwest here Tuesday at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
She had a grand slam and a solo shot in Game 1 as the Bobcats won, 11-9. She hit a walk-off three-run home run in Game 2 to lead Jones to a 9-1, 5-inning victory.
Makynlie Jones went 7-for-8 in the doubleheader with three home runs, 10 RBIs, a double and three singles. She leads NJCAA Division II with 17 home runs and 59 RBIs
The Bobcats are now 26-3 overall, 4-0 in the conference and have won 17 straight games. Jones will travel to No. 22 Itawamba for a 1 p.m. Friday doubleheader. Northwest falls to 17-3 and 0-2.

Makynlie Jones and
Emily Mizelle (Mobile, Ala.) blasted solo homers in the first inning to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
Makynlie Jones then launched a grand slam to right-center in the second to score
Claire Andersen (Wayne Academy),
Laney Little (Mize) and
Meredith Fontenot (Lafayette, La.) to put the Bobcats ahead 6-0.
The Rangers fought back and cut the lead to 7-6 in the fourth when Sommer Tyes hit a three-run homer.
But the Bobcats responded with a four-run fifth to take an 11-6 lead. Tyes hit another three-run home run in the seventh with no outs to close the gap, but
Anna Grace Whitehead (Kosciusko) recorded three straight outs to end it.
Jayden Sawyer (Mobile, Ala.) and Little each had a pair of singles with Mizelle getting a home run.
Addy Shorter, Fontenot and
Marlee Dampeer (Puckett) added singles.
Ava Prejean (Lafayette) pitched the first 4.0 innings and got the win, improving to 10-0. She allowed six runs, five hits, walked three, hit one and struck out five. Whitehead notched her first save of the year. She tossed the final 3.0 innings, giving up three runs, two hits and a walk.
Carly Dunigan had three singles for the Rangers and Tyes had two homers and six RBIs.

The Bobcats led 3-1 entering the bottom of the fourth.
Mizelle then hit her second home run of the day and 11th of the season, a three-run shot to put Jones ahead 6-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, Little led off with a double, Dampeer singled and
Makynlie Jones ended it with a three-run drive to left.
Breelyn Cain (West Lauderdale) got the win, improving to 6-3. She went all 5.0 innings, allowed one run, seven hits, walked none and struck out four.

Addy Shorter (Oxford) adding doubles.
Kaleigh Steverson (Germantown) added a single.
Jenn Smith doubled and singled for Northwest.
Starter Abby Rogers went 3.1 innings and got the loss. She gave up six runs, 10 hits, walked three and struck out three.
