DECATUR – The 13th-ranked Jones College Bobcats remained undefeated with an 8-1 decision over No. 24 East Central here Friday afternoon at the East Central Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 7-0 overall, 4-0 in the MACCC.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Tom Garrett (Australia) blanked Josh Cooper and Luis Rios in No. 1 doubles, 8-0, and
Diego Castellanos (Bolivia) and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) downed Jeronimo Restrepo and Cade Cooley in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) and
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) beat Tate Baucum and Luke Bruntlett in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Ruiz whipped Restrepo in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Castellanos downed Cooper in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Jones defeated Baucum in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Holder beat Cooley in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 6 singles,
Luke Westmoreland downed Bruntlett, 6-1, 7-5. Garrett fell to Rios in No. 2 singles, 6-7 (5), 2-6.
Jones visits Millsaps on Sunday before resuming conference play with a March 6 home match vs. Hinds.
