Box Score MCCOMB – The 13th-rated Jones College Bobcats shut out Southwest 9-0 here Friday afternoon at the FitLife SportsPlex.
The Bobcats are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the MACCC. Southwest falls to 3-2 and 2-1 in the conference.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Tom Garrett (Australia) defeated Mansur Khajimuradov and Manan Kumar in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Diego Castellanos (Bolivia) and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) blanked Juan Manuel Riano Cifuentes and Cameron Leon in No. 2 doubles, 8-0 and
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) and
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) shut out Jay Magee and Thomas Simpson in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Ruiz rallied past Khajimuradov in No. 1 singles, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 and Garrett defeated Kumar in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Castellanos beat Cifuentes in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Jones blanked Leon in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) whipped Magee in No. 5 singles,6-0, 6-3 and
Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) defeated Simpson in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
The Bobcats will play Northeast at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in New Albany and will play Rust College immediately after that match. The Feb.20 home match vs. Coastal Alabama-South that was postponed by cold weather will be played on April 4.
