MARIANNA, Fla. – After dropping its first game at Chipola, 6-5, on Friday afternoon, No. 4 Jones College rolled off three straight run-rule victories to close opening weekend 3-1.
The Bobcats defeated Thomas University JV and Enterprise State, 15-0 and 8-0 in five, and Chipola 11-3 in six innings.
On a gusty Friday morning against the Indians, Jones jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third but gave up five in the bottom half to drop the opener by a run.
They'd win the next three by a combined 34-3.
A dozen Bobcats picked up a hit over the two days, led by
Makynlie Jones' eight and five apiece from
Kaleigh Steverson and
Meredith Fontenot.

Ava Prejean tossed a one-hitter and
Jayden Sawyer and
Emma Moore had three RBIs apiece as part of a 14-hit attack.
Jones and Sawyer each went yard.
Jones scored three in the first and second and nine in the fifth to close it out.

Anna Grace Whitehead tossed a two-hitter in her Bobcat debut with five strikeouts and a walk.
Fontenot hit a three-run homer and Steverson was 2-for-2 with an RBI-double.
Jones 11, Chipola 3 (6 inn.)
Back-and-forth the first two innings, a six-run sixth for Jones helped the Bobcats get revenge from an opening-day loss to the Indians.
Sawyer, Jones and
Marlee Dampeer combined for nine of Jones' 14 hits, including a double apiece.
Prejean settled in to hang four straight zeroes to end the game and struck out a career-high six Indians.
Jones hosts Coastal Alabama-South for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday, Feb. 4. It's the only chance in February to see the Cats at home.
