WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – The sixth-ranked Bobcats won a pair of games at the ASU Mid-South Greyhound Tip-off Classic, beating the hosts 90-78 on Friday and National Park College 85-61 on Saturday.
Jay Tyler scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the opening half Friday to help Jones get on top early.
Leading 7-6 five minutes in, Jones put together a 15-3 run, capped by Tyler's fastbreak layup to take a 22-9 lead.
Jones never let ASU within eight the rest of the way and built its lead to as many as 19.
Braylon Barnes hit back-to-back 3s midway through the second half to open up a 70-52 lead and he'd go on to finish with 19.
Bob Dickson had 20 points, 10 rebounds and five steals before fouling out with five minutes left.
Keron Jackson had 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench in 19 minutes.
Jones was 10-for-19 from deep and shot 49 percent for the game.
In Saturday's finale against NPC, Jones trailed 12-10 at the first media timeout before three-pointers from
Jay Tyler and Jackson made it 16-12 Bobcats.
A Barnes slam and
Bob Dickson jam was part of a 14-4 run to open up a 40-26 lead at halftime.
Jones scored the first seven points of the second half to make it 47-26.
Three consecutive dunks from Jackson (2) and Dickson, opened up a game-high 67-42 lead with 11:57 to play.
Jones shot 44 percent against 32 percent for NPC. The Hawks were 2-of-16 from three and Jones was 11-for-35.
Jackson finished with 18, Barnes 17 and Dickson 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in the win.
Jones hosts South Arkansas College on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 5:30 at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
