JACKSON – Jones College's
Jay Tyler has been named the MACCC and NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Tyler, a 6-foot sophomore guard from Glen Allan, scored 25 points and had six assists in a 99-85 win over Three Rivers (Mo.) and had 24 points and seven assists in an 87-78 win at Bishop State (Ala.). He shot 57 percent from the floor and had 13 assists against just two turnovers.
Tyler has scored 20-plus points in three of Jones' five games this season after scoring a season-high 12 points twice as a freshman.
He is the second consecutive Bobcat to be named Player of the Week, with
Bob Dickson winning the honor last week.
It's Tyler's first career weekly honor.
