No. 7 Jones passes tough road test at Bishop State, 87-78

MOBILE, Ala. — Jay Tyler posted his third 20-point game of the year, Dylan Rowe added 19 and Bob Dickson a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double as No. 7 Jones passed a tough road test at Bishop State Thursday night, 87-78.

Jones improved to 5-0 on the young season and dropped BSCC to 2-3.

It was a game filled with whistles, with the teams combining for 61 fouls and 80 free throws. Jones shot 31 alone the final 20 minutes.

The Wildcats led 32-29 at the half despite shooting just 27 percent, but Jones would grab control early in the second half.

The Bobcats scored the first eight points of the second half, capped by a Tyler 3-pointer. He'd go on to finish with 19 of his 24 in the final half.

BSCC tied the game at 37-37 on a Vophcy Prophete 3-pointer, before Rowe's and-one put Jones ahead for good.

Jones' lead was as high as a dozen with 3:46 to play after two Dickson free throws.

Dickson registered his third double-double in five games with a game-high 15 boards. He's averaging 13.2 points and 13.4 rebounds a night.

Braylon Barnes added 15 points and six rebounds to round out four Bobcats in double figures. Keron Jackson had nine points and five steals off the bench.

Jones shot 44 percent and held BSCC to 36 percent. Both teams finished with 41 rebounds each.

Jones hosts Lawson State on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
