SUMMIT –
Newton Mealer has won 79 games in the middle of his fourth season with the Bobcats, but one team he hadn't beat in his time in Ellisville was Southwest.
That changed Monday night at Bear Gymnasium as No. 7 Jones used a 24-4 run to close the first half and thumped Southwest 89-54 to snap a five-game losing streak to the Bears.
Jones improved to 18-3, 4-1 MACCC and dropped Southwest to 11-8, 2-2.

LJ Hackman's leaner in the lane.
Tied at 16-16 with 7:31 left in the opening half, a 10-0 Bobcat run and cumulative 24-4 run gave Jones a 40-20 lead at half.
The Bobcats continued to pour it on the second half and outscored Southwest 49-34.
Jones had its third-best shooting performance of the season at 55 percent while holding the Bears to 34 percent.
