FULTON – Jones fell behind by double digits at halftime and couldn't catch up to Itawamba's hot-shooting in an 82-59 loss in the MACCC-opener for both teams Monday night at The Davis Event Center.
ICC improved to 11-3, 1-0 MACCC while Jones dropped to 3-10, 0-1.
Jones trailed 23-17 after a quarter of play and 42-32 at half.
Larissa Hubbard and
Zharia Leflore combined for 19 of the Bobcats' 32 first-half points to keep Jones in it.
But ICC shot 62 percent for the night and dominated Jones, 36-14, on the glass that led to numerous second chance opportunities.
Jestiny Dixon had 29 points to lead the Lady Indians, one of three in double figures.
Leflore would finish with a career-high 20 points, three assists and three rebounds for Jones. Hubbard didn't score in the second half.
Jones shot 45 percent for the night, its second-best output of the season.
Jones hosts Meridian Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. The first 50 students who attend get a free t-shirt.
