ELLISVILLE – Sixth-ranked Jones College broke a 1-1 halftime tie with four second half goals and beat Hinds, 5-1, here Friday at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Jones improves to 5-2 overall, 2-2 in MACCC play. Hinds falls to 3-6-2 overall, 1-3 in the conference.
The Bobcats have won 15 straight over the Eagles.
Shirlene King's goal in the 27th minute on a
Boo Mills assist gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Lillian Perniciaro tied it for Hinds in the 40th minute when she took a rebound off the post and scored.
The Bobcats took the lead with an own goal in the 56th minute. King scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute to make it 3-1. Two minutes later,
Jewel Hamilton scored on a
Kerri O'Hara assist and
Annamarie Edwards finished the scoring in the 88th minute.
Scarlette Roberts played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Bobcats.
Jocelyn Hepler played the first 39 minutes and had six saves for the Eagles before leaving with an injury. Ana Camilia Hernandez went the rest of the way and had nine saves.
Jones had 32 shots, compared to only two for Hinds, and 20 shots on goal. The Bobcats had eight corner kicks and Hinds had one.
The Bobcats travel to Pensacola State for a 6 o'clock kick Oct. 1.
