ELLISVILLE – Allie Sifford found the game-winning goal in the 80th minute to lift No. 1 Northwest over No. 2 Jones Tuesday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Northwest stayed unbeaten at 6-0, 1-0 and Jones fell to 3-1, 0-1 MACCC.
The Rangers controlled the tempo in the first half, out-shooting Jones 14-4, and took a 1-0 lead on Brandy Hernandez's goal in the 25th minute.
Jones found the equalizer in the 54th minute when
Sherline King played a through ball to
Jewel Hamilton who scored to make it 1-1.
Jona Hennings had a career-high 10 saves to keep it level for the ensuing 26 minutes before Northwest found the game-winner.
Sifford appeared to be offsides on the pass from Emma Earwood, but the flag stayed down and she was able to curl in a left-footed shot just past Hennings for the goal.
Jones' only other chance came in the 88th minute but King's shot was stopped by Anna Kathryn Harrell.
Northwest out-shot Jones 26-7, including 12-3 on net.
The Bobcats travel to No. 6 Holmes on Friday, a 1 p.m. kick in Ridgeland.
