ELLISVILLE – No. 9 Jones darted out to a 5-0 lead after 45 minutes and cruised to the finish line in a 6-0 shutout of Northwest in the MACCC-opener for both teams Tuesday night.
Jones won its third straight to improve to 3-2, 1-0. Northwest fell to 1-4-2, 0-1.
Matt Reed got the Bobcats on the board in the 7th minute with a rocket shot upper 90 from 25 yards out.
Xabier Souto-Rodriguez scored in the 20th minute on an assist from
Dylan Dykes and Dykes would get his second career goal less than two minutes later to make it 3-0.
Rodriguez added another in the 34th minute and
Luke Dickson's 41st minute goal extended the lead to 5-0.
Landen Linares capped the scoring in the 54th minute.
Jones out-shot Northwest 35-6, including 17-1 on goal.
Cohen Bonner played the first 45 in net and got the win.
Brax Rials played the final 45 and had one save.
Jones visits Holmes on Friday in Ridgeland.
