ELLISVILLE – Shutout in the opener,
Jayden Sawyer and No. 6 Jones returned the favor in a walk-off game two victory to earn a split Tuesday night with No. 12 East Central at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
EC snapped a 21-game skid to Jones in a 3-0 game one win, scoring all three runs off the long ball. Sawyer tossed a two-hit shutout and
Brooklynn Montana hit a three-run homer in the sixth to walk off the Warriors, 10-0, in the nightcap.
Jones moved to 27-11, 14-4 MACCC. EC moved to 27-9, 13-5 in the league.
The Bobcats travel to Northeast Saturday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
East Central 3, Jones 0
Janci Aube's solo shot in the third and Reagan Bryan's two-run homer in the seventh provided all the offense Emily Collins and EC would need.
Collins limited Jones to five hits, all singles, and the Bobcats never threatened.
Jones had runners on second and third in the first inning with two outs, but Collins got a strikeout to keep it a scoreless game early.
Reanna Nieman scattered eight hits, seven strikeouts, two walks and three earned runs in the loss.
Jones 10, East Central 0 (6 inn.)
Sawyer's solo shot in the first set the tone and Jones would score six in the sixth to invoke the run-rule.
Makynlie Jones' two-run shot off the light pole in left made it 4-0 in the fifth.
Meredith Fontenot's one-out triple in the sixth got the big inning started.
Gracey Harbour was hit-by-pitch,
Emma Moore and
Elise Jackson had RBI-singles and Montana's 10th home run of the year walked it off.
Jackson had three hits in the leadoff spot and Montana and Jones had three RBIs apiece.
Sawyer allowed two singles and that was it, punching out six and walking two.
