ELLISVILLE – The dominance of the Jones College women's tennis program continues.
The 10th-ranked Bobcats beat No. 25 East Central 9-0 here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The victory clinched the fourth straight MACCC championship for the program.
Jones finishes MACCC regular season play at 9-0 and has won 74 consecutive league matches dating back to 2019. The Bobcats are 16-0 overall.
This season, the Bobcats won 79 of the 81 individual courts in conference matches.
After a trip to South Carolina this weekend to play three matches, Jones will host the Region 23 Tournament April 11-13.
On Tuesday,
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) and
Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) beat Nil Kalkavan and Maggie Bounds in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Helen Hernandez (Venezuela) and
Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) blanked Brenah Flint and Katelyn Wall in No. 2 doubles, 8-0, and
Annabelle Simmons (Lamar School) and
Ansley Tomkins (Northwest Rankin) defeated Addy Page and Noelle Howell in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Hernandez won No. 1 singles when Kalkavan retired. Tocci blanked Bounds in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Tovar whipped Flint in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Savell downed Howell in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and Tomkins beat Page in No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-1. Simmons defeated Spears in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
