ELLISVILLE – The 11th-rated Jones College Bobcats have done it again.
Jones defeated No. 23 East Central 9-0 here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex to clinch its third consecutive MACCC title.
The Bobcats finished league play at 10-0 and are 16-1 overall.
Jones will go to South Carolina for three matches this weekend and will then host the men's Region 23 Tournament April 18-20.
In No. 1 doubles,
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Charlie Brady (Australia) blanked Maximo Estrada and Batuhan Saban, 8-0.
Duvan Santiago Torres (Colombia) and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) whipped Tate Baucum and Will Manhein in No. 2 doubles, 8-1, and
Ethin McKinnon (Vancleave) and
Hudson Hans (Moss Point) defeated Luke Bruntlett and Cole Tadlock in No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Ruiz beat Estrada in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Brady downed Saban in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) defeated Baucum in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4 and Hans beat Bruntlett in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 7-5. Holder whipped Manhein in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and McKinnon defeated Tadlock in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
