Bobcats go 1-2 vs. nationally ranked foes in South Carolina

SUMTER, S.C. – No. 11 Jones College went 1-2 vs. three top 20 opponents here over the weekend in Sumter Invitational.
 
On Friday, Jones lost 5-4 to No. 10 Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) and 5-4 to host No. 14 USC-Sumter. On Saturday, the Bobcats shut out No. 16 Harford College (Maryland), 9-0.
 
Jones, 17-3, is scheduled to play a scrimmage at the University of Mobile on Tuesday.
 
The Bobcats will host the men's Region 23 Tournament April 18-20.

The Bobcats won two of the doubles' points.
 
Charlie Brady (Australia) and Matias Ruiz (Argentina) beat Petar Wemmenhove and Antoine Schaub in No. 1 doubles, 8-3, and Hudson Hans (Moss Point) and Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) edged Matthew Rodgers and Benjamin Ranby-Al in No. 3 doubles, 8-6. Alex Holder (Madison Central) and Duvan Santiago Torres (Colombia) lost to Antonin Leborne and Zachary Riley in No. 2 doubles, 5-8.
 
Ruiz beat Leborne in No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-3 and Torres beat Riley in no. 3 singles, 6-4, 5-7, 2-1, retired. Brady lost to Wemmenhove in No. 2 singles, 3-6, 1-3, retired and Do lost a close one to Schaub in No. 4 singles, 4-6, 5-7. Holder fell 3-6, 0-6 to Ranby-Al in No. 5 singles and Hans lost to Rodgers in No. 6 singles, 1-6, 0-6.

The Bobcats once again won two doubles' points. 
 
Ruiz and Brady blanked Gian Rojas Rodriguez and Kalle Johansson in No. 1 doubles, 8-0, and Do and Hudson defeated Lachlan Carroll and Andre Dogbefu in No. 3 doubles, 8-2. Santiago Torres and Holder lost 5-8 to Jakub Sevcik and Stanley Long in No. 2 doubles, 5-8.
 
Brady beat Long in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2 and Santiago Torres defeated Dogbefu in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Ruiz lost to Rodriguez in No. 1 singles, 5-7, 4-6 and Do fell to Johansson in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 5-7. Holder dropped a 5-7, 1-6 decision to Sevcik in No. 5 singles and Hans lost a close one in No. 6 singles to Nicolas Torres in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6.

Brady and Ruiz beat Adrian Weisser and Unai Llerena Perez in No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Hans and Santiago Torres defeated Tristan Duval and Martin Puetate in No. 2 doubles, 8-4 and Do and Holder blanked Aaron Gerald and Josh Mabonga in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
 
Ruiz beat Duval in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Brady defeated Weisser in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Santiago Torres downed Perez in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Do beat Puetate in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Ethin McKinnon (Vancleave) defeated Gerald in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-1 and Brooks Newell (Oak Grove) beat Mabonga in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
