ELLISVILLE – The 11th-rated Jones College Bobcats posted a 5-4 win over No. 12 Wallace State (Alabama) here Saturday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 12-0 and will host Holmes at 3 p.m. on March 19. The Lions are now 8-1 and will visit Coastal Alabama-North on March 14.
The Bobcats won two of the doubles' points.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Charlie Brady (Australia) defeated Kye Bennett and Jace Moody in No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
Duvan Santiago Torres (Colombia) and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) edged Jose Munoz and Brett Foster in No. 2 doubles, 9-8 (8-6).
Hudson Hans (Moss Point) and
Ethin McKinnon (Vancleave) fell in No. 3 doubles to Pablo Ruben and Ferran Bonastre, 2-8.
Ruiz defeated Bennett in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Brady beat Munoz in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and Torres downed Bonastre in No. 3 singles, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2. Holder lost Moody in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 2-6. Hans dropped a 1-6, 3-6 decision to Foster in No. 5 singles and McKinnon fell 1-6, 1-6 to Ruben in No. 6 singles.
