Dimp Pernell scored a team-high 20 points to lead four Bobcats in double figures and Jones snapped a nine-game losing streak to rival Pearl River Thursday night, 67-58.
In front of its largest home crowd of the season, Jones improved to 22-6, 9-3 in the MACCC while handing the Wildcats, 19-8, 6-6, their sixth loss in seven games.
Pearl River jumped out to an early 18-10 lead just over six minutes in, but a 22-4 Bobcat run flipped the game in favor of Jones.
Pernell's three-pointer at the 11:44-mark started the run and
Malik Franklin's fastbreak three-pointer ended it.
Jones retook the lead, 21-19, at the 7:18-mark and would not trail again. They led 32-27 at half.
PRCC got no closer than three points the second half and Jones would eventually stretch its lead to a game-high 12 with under six minutes to play.
Ky Pernell had 10 of his 12 points in the second half and
Trey Smith eight of his 12. Franklin added 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Jones shot 45 percent from the floor against 38 for the Wildcats. PRCC was 15-of-19 from the stripe and Jones was 6-of-9.
PRCC was led by Ta'Zir Smith with 22 points and Ezereke Dawson Jr. with 11-11.
With wins at Coahoma March 4 and home to East Central March 7, the Bobcats can clinch their first MACCC Championship since the 2016-17 season.
