RAYMOND – The 12th-ranked Jones College Bobcats beat the No. 22 Hinds Eagles 8-1 here Friday afternoon at the Cleon McKnight Tennis Center.
The Bobcats are now 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the MACCC. Jones will host No. 11 Mississippi Gulf Coast in an important match at 2 p.m. Feb. 27.
Jones took all the doubles' points.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Charlie Brady (Australia) shut out Luka Uzelac and Fabian Juarez in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
Duvan Santiago Torres and
Dawson Do defeated Gabriel Musa and Reese Harper in No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
Alex Holder (Madison Central) and
Hudson Hans (Moss Point) whipped James Logan Gibson and Briley Oakes in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Ruiz beat Masu in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-6. Torres defeated Uzelac in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-2 and Do whipped Harper in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Hans downed Gibson in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3 and
Ethin McKinnon (Vancleave) beat Tristin Rollins in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Brady dropped a close match to Juarez in No. 2 singles, 4-6, 7-6, 7-10.
Hinds, 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference, entertains No. 22 Itawamba on Feb. 27.
