ELLISVILLE – No. 13 Jones College cruised to a 9-0 victory over Southwest here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the MACCC. The Bears drop to 0-4 overall and in the conference.
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) and
Charlie Brady (Australia) defeated Jackson Stanford and Phillip Chandler in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
Hudson Hans (Moss Point) and
Ethin McKinnon (Vancleave) beat Cameron Leon and Alex Velasquez in No. 2 doubles, 8-1, and
Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) and
Brooks Newell (Oak Grove) whipped Jacob Fairley and Will Knight in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Ruiz blanked Chandler in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Brady downed Stanford in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Do shut out Velasquez in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Hans did the same to Fairley in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. McKinnon defeated Leon in No. singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Newell whipped Knight in No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-1.
The Bobcats go to Hinds at 2 p.m. Friday for another conference match. Jones hosts No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast in a big 2 p.m. match on Feb. 27.
Southwest goes to East Central on Feb. 27.
