ELLISVILLE– No. 11 Jones College shut out NCAA Division III Millsaps College 9-0 here Saturday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones improves to 5-0 on the year. The Majors fell to 0-3 to start the season.
The Bobcats travel to Delta State for a scrimmage on Monday and host Southwest in a 2 p.m. MACCC match on Tuesday.
Helen Hernandez (Venezuela) and
Molly Bennett (Madison Central) beat Camille Fremaux and Madison Williams in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) and
Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) defeated Mackenzie Vordick and Mary Dabadie in No. 2 doubles, 8-4.
Annalyn Housley (Nettleton) and
Annabelle Simmons (Lamar School) won No. 3 doubles by default.
Tocci defeated Williams in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and Tovar downed Fremaux in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-4. Housley knocked off Dabadie in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-2 and Savell rallied by Vordick in No. 4 singles, 3-6, 1-0 (6). Tomkins came back to beat Segen Lister in No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5 and Simmons won No. 6 singles by default.
