MERIDIAN – No. 13 Jones College cruised to a 9-0 victory over Bevill State here Saturday at the Northeast Park Tennis Center.
The Bobcats are now 3-0 and will start MACCC play at home Tuesday at 2 p.m. vs. Holmes.
In No. 1 singles,
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) whipped Luke Emerson,6-1,6-0 and
Charlie Brady (Australia) blanked Carson Wood, 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
Duvan Santiago Torres (Colombia) shut out Creed Clardy in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) beat Lincoln Young in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Alex Holder (Madison Central) downed Drew Shankles in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and
Hudson Hans (Moss Point) beat Wilkes Hill in No. 6 singles, 6-0,6-1. In extra matches,
Ethin McKinnon (Vancleave) defeated Braylon Lowery,6-0, 6-2 and
Brooks Newell (Oak Grove) beat Andrew Ross, 6-2, 6-2.
Ruiz and Brady blanked Emerson and Hill in No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0. Torres and Holder defeated Wood and Shankles in No. 2 doubles, 8-3. Do and Hans beat Lincoln Young and Clardy in No. 3 doubles, 8-1. In an extra match, McKinnon and Newell defeated Lydon Young and Lowery, 8-3.
