ENTERPRISE, Ala. – Jones battled No. 20 Enterprise State, the Alabama Community College Champions, to a five-set match in Saturday's NJCAA Gulf South District final but fell 3-2 at ESCC's Lolley Gymnasium.
The Boll Weevils (28-9) get the automatic bid to the NJCAA Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jones (28-8) will have to wait and see if they'll receive an at-large invitation.
Enterprise State took the five-set match 25-17, 15-25, 25-18, 24-26 and 15-8.
With their backs against the wall numerous times and facing set point in the fourth, Jones rallied down two points to win by two and force a decisive fifth.
Jones hit .280 for the match, led by 18 kills from
Harmony Jackson, season-high 15 from
Lexie Drace and eight from
LeAnn Lambert.
Emily Boudreaux and
Mamie Fromdahl had double digit digs with 14 and 10. Fromdahl added 51 assists.
The Boll Weevils hit .295 with 66 kills, led by Alivia Freeman who had 19 and three others with double digit kills.
Christina Vigil had 52 of ESCC's 59 assists with six digs and Lillian Rhoades had a team-high 18 digs.
